The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) helps people in Ghana access healthcare without paying the full cost at the point of treatment. Keeping your membership active is one of the simplest ways to protect your family's health.
Before you start
Make sure you have your Ghana Card, since NHIS registration is now linked to it. Keep your phone nearby too, as some steps may send confirmation messages.
Ways to register or renew
- On your phone: download the official MyNHIS app and follow the steps to register or renew with your Ghana Card.
- At an NHIS office: visit your nearest district NHIS office, where staff can complete the process with you.
- At our outreach events: the foundation runs free NHIS registration and renewal drives at many of our community events.
Don't let your membership lapse
Membership must be renewed to stay active. Set a reminder a few weeks before your renewal date so that you are covered when you need care.
