Good eyesight shapes almost everything: a child's ability to read the board, a trader's ability to count change, an elder's ability to move around safely. Yet for many families, an eye examination is a cost they simply cannot plan for.

That is why eye care has become one of the foundation's most important programmes.

What the outreach looks like

Working with medical partners, we set up free screening points where community members can have their eyes checked by trained professionals. People who need further treatment are identified and referred, and where surgery can restore sight, we work to make it possible at no cost to the patient.

The impact so far

  • 1,404 people have received free eye screenings through our programme.
  • 125 free eye surgeries have been carried out to restore sight.
  • At a single outreach event, more than 500 people were screened and 16 surgeries performed.
Every screening is a chance to catch a problem early, before it becomes a disability.

Why early screening matters

Many eye conditions develop slowly and without pain, so people often do not seek help until their vision is badly affected. Regular screening means problems such as cataracts can be found and treated in time.

How you can help

Each outreach depends on volunteers, medical partners and donors. If you would like to support our next screening, get in touch with our team.
